Russian Adoption Training

Russia law mandates that U.S. adoptive families obtain up to 80 hours of pre-adoption training prior to completing an adoption from Russia. The Russian Law states up to 30 hours of this training must be in a face-to-face setting with a trainer.  Our trainers, all trained by the University of Pittsburgh, will provide you with the required face-to-face training. This three-day course will prepare you for the online testing necessary to acquire your "Certificate of Training" which will be submitted as part of your dossier.

Costs

You will be required to purchase and read the book, "The Connected Child".  This book can be purchased through various outlets for under $15.

The cost of this training will be $750.00 per person ($1,500.00 per couple).  This cost will cover the three day training course.

Upon completion of the training, the trainer will submit documents  confirming your attendance.  The testing administrator, the University of Pittsburgh Office of Child Development (OCD), will then notify you (via email) of the opportunity for you to complete the following steps to achieve your Russian Adoption Training Certificate:

1)  Register with the University of Pittsburgh (OCD) for the online testing - $350.00 per person

2)  You will be directed to take the online Russian Law training module and corresponding online test.  This online module is being hosted by www.russianadoptionlaw.com.  The cost of this training module and test is $250.00 per person.

3)  After completion of the Russian Law module you will then take the test, provided by the University of Pittsburgh (OCD), on the materials covered during the face-to-face training.

Upon successful completion of the online testing, the University of Pittsburgh (OCD) will issue you a Certificate of Completion for Russian Adoption Training.  Your placing agency will also be provided with a copy of your certificate, an overview of the topics covered, and documents supporting the University of Pittsburgh as an accredited institution of higher learning.

Your certificate will then be submitted to Russia by your placing agency as a part of your dossier.
